Forget any preconceptions you have about the insurance industry and internships in general. Our summer intern programmes are designed to give you a taste of what life at Zurich could be like, within a real job, with real responsibility, showing how a global insurer works from the inside. You’ll take part in a number of development activities, which will help you build tailored skills to grow throughout your time with us. You will also have the opportunity to meet and present to senior leaders. Alongside this, you’ll receive support from a dedicated buddy who will help you throughout your placement, this is a great way to help you understand why we love what we do.

Our programmes are designed for interns who have the passion, drive and enthusiasm to innovate the future of Zurich.

The programmes start in the summer of 2020 and will last for 10 weeks.

Intern opportunities

We have opportunities for internships across a number of our key business areas, all schemes run for 10 weeks across the summer of 2020. Likely start will be mid-late June.

Our 2020 internship roles have been carefully designed to provide you with development and training opportunities so that you can build up a strong understanding of our culture and how we serve our customers.

Successful completion of your internship could lead to you being offered a place on one of our graduate programmes starting in 2021. Don't hesitate to apply as we will review all applications on a first come first served basis.

What you'll need

  • Be in your penultimate year of undergraduate study and predicted minimum 2:1 degree (or the equivalent)

  • Actuarial interns will need a minimum A-grade in Mathematics at A-level and be studying for a numerical degree

  • At least 112 UCAS points (or the equivalent) from 3 A-level subjects excluding general studies

  • A/9 - C/4 grade in Maths and English GCSE

  • Flexibility on location as some of our business functions require you to work in different sites


  • Pro-rata competitive salary

Want to apply?

As you would expect, we have a thorough selection process to ensure we’re able to recruit top talent. Here you’ll find the four stages which we aim to complete within six weeks.


  • Stage 1: Online application form

    Your first step will be to complete an online application form. This gives you the chance to tell us a bit more about yourself and answer some eligibility questions which will help us to check you meet the requirements of the programme.

  • Stage 2: Online tests

    Firstly you complete our values based assessment, where you’ll be asked to choose between different approaches to situations at work. You will need to meet our requirements before progressing through to ability questions, which measure your understanding of information presented to you in different formats and assesses your ability to accurately evaluate and interpret data. This will take between 20-30 minutes, so do make sure you clear plenty of time and that the environment you are in is free from distractions.

  • Stage 3: Video interview

    You should allow 40 minutes for the video interview. You will be asked a series of motivational and competency-based questions and asked to provide recorded video and written responses.

    You will just have one chance to record your responses so do make sure you prepare by revisiting the details of the programme you have applied for and research our company values and the services and products we provide. You can find out about Zurich Values here.

  • Stage 4: Assessment centres

    During the assessment centre you'll meet members of the Zurich team and current graduates. Our assessment centres include a combination of interactive exercises; an interview, case study and group exercise.

    This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Zurich and to meet various representatives from the business.
