Our insurance apprenticeship programmes
You don't need to be an expert in insurance to be successful in one of our insurance apprenticeships.
As an insurance apprentice, you'll usually join either our claims team as a claims handler or our underwriting team as an underwriter.
As a claims apprentice, you'll help customers when they need us most. You'll communicate with empathy and organise support based on their policy. You'll also be working towards a Level 3 Insurance Practitioner qualification.
As an underwriting apprentice, you'll join our team of underwriters. They work with customers and partners to ensure policies suit their needs and risks are clearly understood and factored into the price. This programme leads to a Level 4 Insurance Professional qualification.
Either pathway will help you achieve an industry-recognised Chartered Insurance Institute qualification, but you will also gain new knowledge and skills, such as:
- Learning more about insurance - what it is, how it supports our customers, what we do to deliver on our promises to our customers, and how the insurance market functions
- Developing relationship management skills. You’ll learn how to build and grow your professional relationships and networks to deliver on our commitments to our customers and partners
- Governance - you’ll learn how Zurich (as part of a regulated industry) complies with legal and regulatory rules and how we promote a culture of treating customers fairly
- Technical ability - whether you're a claims handler understanding the intricacies of dealing with a customer's claim, or an underwriter learning how to assess the risk posed by a customer's potential policy, you'll learn vital technical skills to help you deliver in your role
- Innovation and communication – you'll learn how to suggest ideas to make improvements (considering the impact they may have on business objectives) and develop the ability to communicate information to different kinds of audiences, from other apprentices to leaders within your area
How long will my apprenticeship last?
Between 24-30 months. Once you complete your apprenticeship, you'll continue to be a permanent member of the team.
