Getting to know Rachel
What do you do in your role?
I manage Financial Lines claims and work with brokers, customers, solicitors and internal stakeholders. I also support training across Claims and Underwriting and share claims insight to support decisions.
How did you get into insurance?
I joined through the business management graduate scheme, spending time across Claims, Underwriting, MGA Account Management, Employee and Customer Experience and the Public Sector function.
How has your degree helped?
Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills help me assess complex claims, understand policy wordings and explain claims coverage decisions clearly with the end customer in mind.
What might surprise people?
Claims is highly sociable and relationship-driven, with constant collaboration across internal teams and external partners.
What advice would you give students?
Be open-minded. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and build connections across the business will be really helpful throughout your career.
