Our actuarial life insurance internship programme
Our actuarial interns identify, analyse and quantify our financial risk and its consequences. As an intern on our life insurance actuarial programme, you'll be shown how to study historical data, assess current risks and create future forecasting models. If you're motivated and ambitious person, an actuarial internship is a great way to prepare for your future career.
What will I need to apply?
You must have the indefinite, full right to work and reside in the UK. We cannot accept applications from those who require sponsorship to work in the UK. You must also be in your penultimate year of undergraduate study at university.
You’ll also need the following:
- You must be in your penultimate year of study in a Maths-based bachelors (or equivalent) degree (e.g. mathematics, statistics, engineering, chemistry and physics) and on course to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree
- A minimum C/4 grade in both English and Maths at GCSE level (or equivalent)
- At least 128 UCAS points (ABB) in three A-levels (or equivalent)
- A minimum A grade in Mathematics A-level
What skills will I need?
To be eligible to apply, you’ll need to have a minimum maths A grade at A-level and to be studying (or have completed) a STEM or economics degree at a UK university, with a predicted or achieved 2:1.
You’ll also need an analytical approach and strong numerical, team-working, communication and interpersonal skills.
What will I be doing?
You’ll be working for a large global insurer that values its customers and employees, and will be learning from talented actuaries and analysts from across the industry.
You’ll build your understanding of actuarial work and develop the range of skills that you’ll need to be successful as a qualified actuary.
Within the life business, you’ll work on life, health, pension and investment products. This could include pricing new or existing products, providing actuarial support for group-wide projects, financial risk management and modelling, or reserving and financial reporting.

Life internships are based in Swindon. We also offer flexible working which can be discussed with your manager.
