Our data apprenticeship programmes
There are data apprenticeship roles in various areas of our business, such as our central data office team within our operations function, who provide support right across our organisation, or our teams providing business-specific insight and analysis.
You don't need to be an expert in data to be a successful data apprentice, as we’ll give you plenty of support towards achieving your qualification.
Depending on the role, you'll either complete our data-driven professional Level 3 apprenticeship or our data analyst Level 4 apprenticeship qualification.
What you learn will depend on the programme you're completing - our adverts outline which one you'll complete. Here are some of the things you'll learn, as well as skills you'll develop through your apprenticeship:
Data driven professional Level 3 apprenticeship
- Power up your profession for Industry 4.0 and learn about the secrets of being successful in a tech-focused world
- Fast-track your development to being a spreadsheet expert - whether it's learning how to quickly get your hands on the right data, learning crucial spreadsheet skills, connecting reports to ensure consistency, or understanding how to get instant answers from your data
- Learn how to tailor your content to your audience and how to effectively communicate your data insights and decisions
- Automate data to reduce workloads and to support with data cleansing
- Create data visualisations and dashboards that help us change our business and save time
- Learn about digital transformation topics, such as machine learning, data strategy, databases, no-code apps and digital transformation.
Data analyst Level 4 apprenticeship
As a data analyst apprentice, you’ll:
- Understand the fundamentals of data
- Learn about the development of databases including how data is stored, database design, combining data and aggregating with tools such as SQL
- Create data visualisations and dashboards that change the business and save time. Provide business intelligence through skills such as data mining and descriptive statistics
- Understand the fundamentals of data science, including machine learning, decision trees and coding, through languages such as Python or low code alternatives
- Advanced analytics skills such as linear regression, logistic regression, clustering and time series forecasting models
- Learn how to manage projects, including building a business case, understanding stakeholder requirements and topics such as data architecture
- An introduction to the wider world of data such as data security, open source, machine learning, cloud infrastructure and data pipelines.
How long will my apprenticeship last?
Typically between 12-18 months. Once you complete your apprenticeship, you'll remain a permanent team member. In most scenarios, you will study remotely through our digital delivery-focused training providers.
