If you want to make a claim online, you can do it through our online portal. It will take about five minutes to complete and require a few incident details, along with some personal information.

What to expect when you make a claim

Zed Alert is a simple way to submit either a travel or personal accident claim. This form can be completed by the affected person, the employer or a broker.

Start by heading to travelandpa.zurich.co.uk. Select either travel for overseas, medical cancellations and Property or personal accident. If you're unsure where to start, the question marks will give you more details.

Start by clicking start claim. The first screen will ask you for your basic information. Anything with an asterisk is information we require you to complete. The more information you can provide the better.

The affected person details can be filled out on another's behalf by moving the slider. Select the country in which your employment contract is issued. Then provide the details of the trip, where the claim occurred and the dates of the trip.

You will then need to provide details of the person from your organisation who will be approving that the claim can be paid under the policy. This might be a line or risk manager. Provide their details so that the details of your claim can be sent for approval.

If you have the authority to approve your own claim, add your own details. The approver whose details you provide will receive a redacted version of the form to preserve your confidentiality. Once you've filled out all the required details, click next.

Select what type of travel claim you wish to make. If you are unsure, you can click the question marks on each of the categories for further information. To demonstrate we will submit a medical claim. We start by clicking on the medical claim selection.

You could then provide us with as much detail as you can for your claim. You will need to list all the items which you are claiming for. You can add any documentation to support the claim. For example, you might add a receipt for treatment you received. If you are using Zed Alert on a mobile phone, you will be able to take a picture of the document and add that file as an attachment or attach directly from your phone's saved files.

We can convert the currency for you. If you have already been in contact with the emergency team, you can provide details of Zurich Travel Assistance here. We will highlight in red anywhere where you have missed some information before we move on.

Once you click save, you will be given a summary. If you have more than one type of loss to claim for in the same trip, you can then select another section and submit further details. So, for example, if due to a medical incident your flight had to be rearranged and the cost was incurred, both of those losses can be submitted under one claim.

If your losses occurred over multiple different trips, then you will need to submit a separate claim for them for each trip. Once ready, click next.

The final step is to provide us with payment details. Be sure to confirm the type of bank account that will be paid into, so you are asked for the relevant details. Sign the form using your cursor and confirm your e-mail address. Then hit submit to finalise. You will then see a confirmation that your claim has been submitted to your approver. Your approver has 21 days to approve the claim, or it will be returned to you.

We recommend you download a PDF of the claim form and save it so you don't have to fill out the form again should any issues arise. You will also receive an e-mail confirming that your claim has been submitted. The e-mail also includes contact details for our claims team should you need to speak with someone. Your manager or approver will receive a separate e-mail with the redacted version of your claim. They can then follow the link to approve the claim digitally.

Once that approval has been submitted, the claim will automatically come to our claims team and we will respond in two working days. If you haven't heard from us in this time, please check with your manager the approval has been sent. You can always call us on 08000260184 with any queries.
