Income protection supports the important things in your life

Put simply, income protection provides support in the event you cannot work due to illness or injury and this leads to a loss of gross income.

It offers peace of mind that you're financially supported should you be unable to work due to illness or injury for a prolonged length of time, and typically lasts until you retire. Unlike life insurance products, the benefit amount is paid monthly after your chosen waiting period – this is commonly known as the ‘deferred period’. If you’re interested in income protection cover, please speak to your financial adviser.

If you don’t have an adviser, you can call LifeSearch on 0800 8046810 to talk about Zurich’s Income Protection product and other optional benefits, or you can find an independent adviser on the dedicated British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) website.

Why choose Zurich Income Protection?

While other policies may stop at financial support, our insurance goes further.

Maximum Benefit Guarantee

If you become unable to work and there’s a difference of 10% or less between your insured monthly benefit, and the maximum amount we can pay based on your gross earnings when you claim, we’ll pay your full monthly benefit less any continuing income.

Minimum Benefit Guarantee

If you don’t qualify for the Maximum Benefit Guarantee we'll still guarantee the monthly benefit you've chosen, up to £1,500, even if your salary has dropped since you took out your policy or it no longer supports your monthly benefit.

Return to Work Package

If you return to work on a part time basis, or in a lower paid occupation, we'll pay you a percentage of the monthly benefit we were paying you immediately before your returned to work.

Waiver of Premium

When you notify us of your claim, if you agree to any steps recommend by your claims specialist we’ll suspend your premiums straight away.

Tailored support

Everyone’s circumstances are different. Speak to your financial adviser to tailor your cover.

This insurance plants trees

We’re proud to be a partner of Trees for the Future. With your support, we’re helping to fund tree planting and restoration projects in Africa.

Cover for your earnings with Zurich Income Protection

  • The maximum monthly benefit you can choose when you take your policy is 65% of the first £60,000 of your gross income and 45% of your gross income above this amount.
  • Choose when your monthly benefit begins and how long you need to be covered.
  • Flexibility to choose between a monthly benefit that’s potentially payable until the end of your policy term, or a monthly benefit that’s payable for a maximum of 2 years per claim.

If your income falls between taking out your policy and making a claim, the amount we pay you could be lower than your monthly benefit. That’s why we’re included features that help to protect you against fluctuations in income - Maximum Benefit Guarantee and Minimum Benefit Guarantee.

It’s important to review your cover regularly to make sure it still meets your needs and reflects your current income.

To take out income protection cover, speak to your financial adviser who will help choose the policy that’s right for you.
