The Milestone Benefit

If you’re under 55, you can increase your cover within 90 days of a significant life event, without needing to tell us of changes in your health or lifestyle.

This means you can increase your cover when important life changes occur, such as buying a new home, getting married, or welcoming a child. It’s a simple way to ensure your life insurance keeps up with your changing circumstances.

Who it’s for

It’s available on our current life protection policies unless its specifically excluded in the policy documents. This is usually because of health issues identified when the policy is first taken out.

Significant life events that qualify

Here are the significant life events that can trigger the benefit:

Increasing your mortgage

If you buy a new home or renovate your current one, you can increase cover to match your new mortgage.

Marriage or civil partnership

Celebrate your union by increasing your protection.

Divorce or separation

If your circumstances change, you can adjust your cover to match your needs.

Welcoming a child

Growing your family, whether you’re having a new baby or adopting.

Salary increase

If you get a promotion or significant raise (at least 10%), you can boost your coverage by the same percentage as your salary increase.

How flexible is it?

You can increase it by up to 100% of the original cover amount, up to a maximum of an additional £200,000.

Premium increases

Increasing your cover will increase your premiums. The new premium will be calculated based on your age at the time of the increase and other personal circumstances.
