ZGP24: employee case studies

Here are two examples where HealthHero helped employees who were struggling to get timely access to NHS services.

Case study 1: A 25-year-old man with back pain

An employee was struggling with a pinched nerve, so they contacted the service for advice regarding neck and shoulder pain. Just 42 minutes later, they were talking a GP through their symptoms and how the pain worsened when turning their head to the left.

As they hadn’t suffered from any arm or leg weakness, the GP concluded that the patient had an acute neck muscle spasm and therefore advised on the best over-the-counter analgesics available.

The GP also advised the patient to contact their local out-of-hours or walk-in centre should the pain worsen or should they experience any weakness in their legs or arms.

Case study 2: A 51-year-old woman with concerns about her medication

An employee was unsure how best to take her multiple medications, having been prescribed a second medication for an existing condition following an appointment with her own GP.

Unsure of what to do, but not wanting to trouble her NHS GP again so soon after her appointment, she used our Virtual GP service and within an hour, was able to discuss with a GP how best to take her different medication so that they worked safely and effectively together. The employee was happy with the information given and pleased that the service was on hand if she didn’t wish to trouble her NHS GP.

Important details about ZGP24

ZGP24 is an additional service available to all customers. The ZGP24 service is provided by HealthHero. The service is not a replacement for the employee’s own GP. Although most patients will receive advice, reassurance and where appropriate, diagnosis, from HealthHero’s own doctors, if their symptoms require a physical examination or a repeat prescription, they may be referred to their own GP.

This service is not part of the insurance contract and is non-contractual. It is not provided by Zurich and can be amended or withdrawn at any time. This service is free to access.
