Second Medical Opinion – adviser information

Our Second Medial Opinion services

We currently operate two Second Medical Opinion services, access to which one depends on how long your client has been a customer.

Understanding which service to use

New policies or existing customers going through a rate retest, initially quoted from 1st April 2025, have access to the Second Medical Opinion+ and Precision CancerCare service provided by Further, details of which you can find below.

All other existing customers should continue to use the ZGP24 Second Medical Opinion service provided by HealthHero.

The quotation or policy information confirms which service (HealthHero or Further) is available to your client.

Second Medical Opinion service from HealthHero

This Second Medical Opinion Service, provided by HealthHero, can help offer peace of mind about a diagnosis, provide an opportunity to ask questions about proposed treatment or about a condition, and discuss if alternative treatment options are available. This service is for anyone diagnosed with an eligible critical condition by a treating consultant or specialist.

This service is available to Zurich Corporate Risk customers and their eligible employees (and family members and dependants living in the same household).

How will this service help my clients?

Being diagnosed with a serious condition can be confusing and stressful and can cause increased anxiety and worry. This service offers access to specialist consultants to ask for a second opinion on a diagnosis or treatment and can help your clients make sure their employees are happy and healthy and getting the right support.

Second Medical Opinion service - key features

  • Up to two second medical opinions delivered by an experienced specialist with relevant experience in the appropriate specialty, from a network of clinical specialists across the UK
  • The second medical opinion consultation can take place face-to-face, by telephone, or via secure video-link. It could also include a desktop review of medical information or a multi-disciplinary team review
  • Employees can ask about the specialist's expert opinion on their diagnosis, ask about their proposed treatment or possible alternative treatments, and get more information about their condition

Where a dependant patient is under the age of 16, their parent/legal guardian must book their appointment and must also attend the consultation.
