An employee assistance programme (EAP) is a confidential service your employees can use if they are having difficulties balancing the pressures of work and home life – be they emotional, physical or financial.
If you are a Zurich Group Income Protection or Group Critical Illness policyholder, your eligible employees (and their immediate family members) will be able to access our EAP from Health Assured. Immediate family members means spouses/partners and children aged 16 to 24 in full-time education, living in the same household.
How will an EAP help my business?
We believe there’s a clear link between use of EAPs and improved employee satisfaction and engagement, as well as reduced workplace absence.
Through a combination of reactive, proactive and preventative care, our EAP aims to help reduce mental health-related sickness, absence and staff turnover, and help to boost productivity. An effective EAP is a way for you to show your commitment to your employees’ health, wellbeing and safety.

What does the Health Assured EAP offer?
Key features:
- Up to eight one-hour counselling sessions per issue, per year, from a network of more than 1,650 counsellors across the UK and Ireland. Sessions can be delivered in-person, online, or over the phone
- Callers are proactively allocated to counsellors with lived experience
- Bereavement and probate support
- Unlimited access to a 24/7 confidential helpline, with counsellors on hand 365 days a year, to offer friendly, confidential guidance on medical, legal and financial wellbeing, and family issues including childcare, eldercare, housing and tenancy concerns, relationships and marital changes, and redundancy
- Online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) sessions, with exercises designed to help your employees with a range of needs including anxiety, depression and menopause
- An online library containing a wide range of self-help tools, webinars, factsheets and health checks
- An easy-to-access service meaning employees can self-refer or be guided by their manager or HR professional
- 24/7 crisis assistance support available
- Manager consultancy and support via the helpline, workshops, briefings and training. Helping managers in areas including: achieving goals; dealing with obstacles; and understanding emotional health in work
- Access to the Wisdom app
- All counsellors are qualified and ISO/IEC 27001 accredited, which is an international standard to manage information security
