Why choose Zurich to insure your tenants’ association or residents’ association?
Tenants and residents’ associations (TRAs) play an important role in ensuring their neighbourhoods are safe, comfortable and welcoming places to live.
TRAs typically operate on a non-profit basis and act as a voice for their neighbourhood – raising concerns on behalf of tenants/residents, as well as organising events and activities that help to foster a sense of community.
If you are part of a TRA, it is important to be aware of the potential risks you could face, whether through your regular activities, occasional or one-off events that you might be running, such as summer BBQs or charity fundraisers.
These risks could include:
- Injury to volunteers or members of the public at a TRA-run event
- Damage to buildings/property hired by the organisation for an activity/event
- Theft of money raised at an event, for example if it is taken from a safe or while in transit to a bank
- Claims made individually against senior decision-makers within the TRA for alleged losses resulting from decisions taken by them
Zurich is already the trusted insurer for more than 17,000 not-for-profit organisations across the UK. Cover for TRAs begins from just £56 a year.

What insurance do tenants and residents’ associations need?
The types of cover your TRA needs will depend on the scale and scope of your activities, but public liability insurance should always be considered by any organisation whose events or activities involve interaction with members of the public.
Public liability insurance for voluntary groups
Public liability insurance (cover of £2,000,000 included as standard in our online product) can protect your TRA against third-party claims relating to injury or property damage affecting members of the public or volunteers.
Trustee indemnity insurance
Directors, trustees and officers’ insurance – also known as trustee indemnity cover – can protect your trustees or senior decision-makers against claims made against them personally as part of the organisation’s activities. Our trustee indemnity insurance is provided under our Financial and Administration Liability cover, which also includes corporate liability cover and crime cover.
Employers’ liability insurance
Many TRAs won’t have any employees, but if you do employ staff, this cover can protect your TRA against claims relating to illness, injury, or death of an employee in the course of their work duties.
Personal accident insurance
This provides a lump sum or regular payment should an employee, volunteer or trustee suffer a sudden and unforeseen accidental injury in the course of their duties.
Other types of cover
Zurich offers a range of additional insurance options, including money cover.
