What are the different types of insurance for grant making organisations UK?
Public liability insurance for voluntary groups
Our online product includes £2,000,000 public liability insurance as standard. This cover can protect trusts and grant making organisations against claims of injury affecting members of the public (which could include your organisation’s members or volunteers) occurring at related or sponsored events or activities.
Trustee indemnity insurance
Our directors, trustees and officers’ insurance – sometimes known as trustee indemnity cover – can protect your trustees or senior decision-makers against claims made against them personally as part of the organisation’s activities. Our trustee indemnity insurance is provided under our Financial and Administration Liability cover, which also includes corporate liability cover and crime cover.
Employers’ liability insurance
This can protect your grant making organisation against claims relating to illness, injury, or death of an employee in the course of their work duties.
Personal accident insurance
Personal accident cover provides a financial benefit should an employee, volunteer or trustee be accidentally injured in the course of their work duties.
Other types of cover
Zurich also offers a range of other insurance options, including money cover. Find out more about these different types of cover.
FAQs about insurance for grant making organisations
Do volunteer groups need public liability insurance?
Any group that organises events, gatherings or meet-ups should consider public liability insurance. Public liability insurance helps protect an organisation against third-party claims of injury or accidental damage, for example, if someone was hurt at an event your organisation was hosting, or if your organisation accidentally broke a window or damaged a carpet at a venue you had hired out. It is very common for organisations to be required to source adequate public liability cover before being given permission to host an event or hire premises.
Do organisations need employers’ liability insurance for volunteers?
If your organisation relies solely on volunteers and does not have employees, then you may not need employers’ liability insurance, but it’s always best to check with your insurer. See our employers’ liability insurance page for examples of when cover might be needed.
