How to set up your school trip insurance
- Read through the application form and summary of cover appropriate to your trip.
- Submit your completed application form to us at ZCDadminteam@uk.zurich.com, at least 10 days prior to departure.
- We'll provide confirmation of cover and an invoice for payment within 3 working days of the application being received.

What is school trip insurance?
School trip insurance is designed specifically for schools and academies and covers you for group travel involving your students and staff. This type of insurance ensures that you’re covered in the unfortunate event that something goes wrong, providing you with the insurance cover to ensure you are reimbursed for expenses that are out of your control.
What does school trip insurance cover?
This type of insurance can provide cover for a range of potential risks and expenses that may occur during the trip. For example, this could include:
Personal accident cover
In the event a member of your group has an accident on the trip which results in bodily injury leading to death or disablement, you will be covered for up to £25,000 for each insured person (death reduced to £10,000 aged under 16). For any accidents that result in temporary total disablement from any occupation, the policy also includes a payment of up to £100 per week for up to 104 weeks.
Medical and associated expenses
If an insured person becomes ill or sustains bodily injury on a trip, we will provide Medical, Travel and Emergency Repatriation expenses up to £10,000,000. This includes search and rescue expenses up to £50,000 per insured person (£100,000 per any one event). We will also pay up to £25,000 per insured person for the reasonable costs of hospital in-patient medical charges within the 3 months immediately following the date of return to the UK.
Cancellation, curtailment, replacement and rearrangement cover
When your plans are disrupted by something unexpected, our school trips insurance will cover up to £3,000 for any journey which you are forced to cancel or rearrange, where the cause is outside the control of any insured person. In the event you need to replace a member of staff / adult helper during the trip, we will pay up to £2,000 towards the cost of flights and other essential expenses incurred in sending a substitute.
Personal property and delayed baggage cover
Feel secure, knowing that in the event of your baggage or equipment being lost, damaged, stolen or destroyed – we have you covered. Sometimes delays cannot be avoided so if any baggage is lost for more than 12 hours you will be reimbursed towards the cost of emergency replacement clothing, toiletries, and similar items up to £125 per insured person. In the event of damage to personal property during the trip, we will pay up to £2,500 per insured person (subject to a single article limit of £500 and max payment of £750 for certain items detailed in the policy wording).
