Accident, health and travel: affinity and schemes insurance
Affinity and schemes insurance is a type of insurance that organisations can offer to their customers, members or another group of people with a common interest.
It is typically used where the organisation purchasing the insurance has some duty of care to protect those individuals against the risks they may face, but it can also be a useful way for organisations to differentiate themselves and add value for their customers or members.
We work with partners such as consumer finance organisations, shared and gig economy platforms, large membership associations, travel and vehicle hire companies, other affinity groups, specialist brokers and Managing General Agents (MGAs).
What kinds of risks are covered by affinity and schemes insurance?
Examples of affinity and schemes insurance:
- No-added charge (NAC) travel insurance offered to banking customers as part of a packaged bank account
- Group personal accident cover, as well as maternity and paternity benefit, for gig economy workers
- Cover for accident and sickness causing disability, incapacity, or financial loss to an organisation, for example, the cost of using locum doctors or supply teachers, or temporarily replacing essential professionals
- Personal accident and/or travel insurance for sports associations
- Products designed for membership schemes, for example, cover for gym fees or football club season ticket fees where a member is unable to use their membership or season ticket as a result of sickness or injury
- Education fees in the event of injury or sickness of a student or fee-payer
