Statutory inspections are the equivalent of MOTs for plant and machinery, and account for the majority of inspections carried out by our engineering surveyors.

Many different types of plant and machinery are legally required to be inspected at specified regular intervals (for example, every six or 12 months).

Our plant guide explains the different inspection periods for different types of plant and machinery, including:

  • Lifting equipment
  • General work equipment
  • Pressure systems
  • Local exhaust ventilation
  • Electrical equipment
  • Power presses

Our guide also explains the various legislation that applies to different types of equipment, for example: the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998, and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998.
