What does a regional service manager do?
I’m one of three regional service managers working for Zurich Engineering. My area of responsibility is the Midlands region, and I oversee 11 Team Managers each of whom manage a group of multi-discipline engineering surveyors. It’s my role to make sure that we provide the day to day service that our clients are looking for.
A strong team
There are approximately 600 Engineering Surveyors working for Zurich. My job is basically operational management. I’m involved in putting teams together and making sure that everyone is in the right place at the right time, and that we’re providing the very highest levels of service to our customers.
I’ve always enjoyed building teams to provide the best service levels in the industry. Our clients know that we always deliver to our promises. When we commit to a certain job on a certain date, they can depend on us.
Meeting the challenges
There are always challenges in the job. With such a variety of different clients, from the nuclear industry through to local authorities, you’ve got to know and understand lots of different industries. It is always a challenge to get exactly the right resource in place to meet our customers' expectations and obligations.
There’s a great sense of teamwork in Zurich. The motivation and the morale are excellent, and we all work together to get great results and achieve our targets. In today’s changing environment, the people who come and work for Zurich tend to stay.
