Zurich partners with TCV to foster community and green spaces

Zurich is delighted to announce a new partnership with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV). This builds on years of collaboration that has supported thousands of community groups across the UK.

For years we’ve worked with TCV to offer access to insurance and practical support to members of TCV’s Community Network. This helps grassroots groups safeguard the activities that make a difference in their local communities.

Who are TCV?

TCV is a charity that has worked with UK communities since 1959 to care for and improve green spaces. Their projects include the revitalisation of:

  • Community gardens
  • Woodland areas
  • Sites of special scientific interest
  • Nature reserves
  • Schools
  • Hospital grounds

Through their ‘I Dig Trees’ programme, TCV has provided free native tree packs to thousands of individuals, schools, and local groups. This initiative aims to boost biodiversity, create greener spaces, and help communities reconnect with nature.

TCV also supports grassroots groups through the Chestnut Fund, offering grants for key expenses such as insurance, tools, equipment, training, and project costs. These grants make it easier for local organisations to deliver vital conservation projects and strengthen bonds between people and green spaces.

Our partnership

Zurich is committed to helping communities thrive in a rapidly changing world. Our partnership with TCV empowers community groups to take action on sustainability, biodiversity, and wellbeing.

At Zurich Insurance, we’re committed to supporting our customers and communities as they take meaningful action on biodiversity, which is why we’re so proud to be partnering with TCV. Together, we can help local groups feel confident, protected and supported as they grow ideas into something lasting, making a real difference for people and the planet.

Today, Zurich insures over 17,000 not-for-profit organisations across the UK. For groups in TCV’s Community Network, we offer tailored insurance designed for gardening and conservation projects. This includes public liability cover and optional extras to meet specific needs.

There’s an added benefit: when groups buy through this scheme, Zurich contributes towards TCV’s Chestnut Fund. The Chestnut Fund is TCV’s grant programme for Community Network members, providing financial support for essential costs such as insurance, tools, equipment, training and other project expenses. This positive cycle of investment makes it easier for new groups to get started, grow, and continue protecting their local environment.

Helping change take route

TCV’s Community Network is designed to give people the confidence, knowledge, and support they need to turn ideas into thriving local projects. TCV has a rich history of mobilising volunteers and now with Zurich's support, our Community Network can empower thousands of local groups to protect and restore nature with local volunteers in their community green spaces.

As the Community Network evolves, Zurich and TCV remain united in one shared goal: helping people across the UK build greener, stronger, and more resilient communities - for both nature and people.

Together, we’re helping change take root.
