As a nation we are becoming used to increasingly unpredictable weather resulting in all types of flooding and storm damage. Public service organisations, education institutions and charities have been building resilience against such effects. But few foresaw the drought conditions and extreme heat of a warming earth being reflected so soon in the UK.
