Zurich UK has appointed Will Edwards as Head of SME to help drive the continued growth of its Retail business. He replaces Paul Tombs who is leaving the company to take up an external role.
Prior to his appointment, Will was Head of Strategic Finance at Zurich UK, where he was responsible for systems, data and strategic projects across Life and General Insurance. He has almost a decade of experience at Zurich, and has held several senior roles, including Strategic Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer.
David Martin, Zurich’s Head of Retail, said:
“Will’s appointment reflects the deep pool of talent we have at Zurich, and I look forward to working with him in this pivotal role. We have invested heavily in our etrading platform to make it easier for brokers to interact and trade with us. With his technical expertise and extensive knowledge of our business, Will is perfectly placed to help grow our SME business, and further enhance the broker experience.
“I would like to thank Paul for his part in enhancing the agility of our SME business and wish him luck for the next stage of his career.”
Will Edwards, Zurich’s Head of SME, said:
“Zurich’s SME business has undergone an impressive transformation and I’m excited about working with the team to lead the next phase of growth. My overriding priority will be to listen to brokers to ensure we deliver the highest level of service and make it as friction-less as possible to trade with us.”
Zurich has transformed its SME business in recent years, launching a new self-serve etrading platform, reducing unnecessary referrals to underwriters and enhancing its responsiveness for brokers. Some 99% of Zurich’s new SME business is now carried out through broker self-service.
