Wednesday 22nd June 2022:

Zurich UK today announces the appointment of Amy Brettell as Managing Director of Zurich Municipal. Amy, who will also join Zurich’s executive team, succeeds Andrew Jepp, who has decided the time is right to step down and explore new opportunities after 40 years at Zurich.

Having joined the business on the actuarial graduate scheme, Amy has been with Zurich for 15 years holding a range of senior leadership roles including Chief of Staff. She has been responsible for multiple parts of Zurich Municipal’s business during this time, including public services, health and charities. Most recently, Amy led Zurich’s customer and digital transformation as Head of Customer in UK Claims.

Tim Bailey, Zurich UK CEO, said:

“I would like to thank Andrew for his outstanding contribution to our business over 40 years of service. Andrew is greatly respected by our customers and colleagues alike and his strong leadership over the past six years has shaped Zurich Municipal’s competitive position today.

“Amy was the standout successor for this role, and the speed at which she has reached such a senior position is testament to her talent. Having worked across Zurich in a variety of senior roles, Amy has a deep understanding of our business and the needs of our public and voluntary sector customers. Amy will be a really valuable addition to the executive team, and I look forward to working closely with her to cement Zurich Municipal’s leading market position.”/p>

Andrew Jepp, Managing Director Zurich Municipal, said:

“It has been a privilege to lead Zurich Municipal and its incredible team. I am enormously proud of everything we have achieved together to support our customers. As we now consider the next strategic cycle looking out to 2025, I feel the time is right to move on. I can think of no better leader than Amy to capitalise on the opportunities ahead. We will work closely together over the rest of the year to achieve a smooth transition.”

Amy Brettell, Head of Customer, said:

“Zurich Municipal is where I began my career, so this feels a homecoming for me. It’s a great business with passionate people, and I’m honoured to have the opportunity to drive its future growth. Public and voluntary sector organisations play an integral role in society, but they also face a variety of rapidly evolving risks. I’m excited by the opportunity to help our customers navigate these challenges and enhance their resilience, as they continue to deliver crucial services for local communities.”

Amy’s appointment will commence on the 1 October 2022 and is subject to regulatory approval. Zurich will announce a new Head of Customer in due course.
