Terms of Use
By registering for and using the Zurich Access Portal ('Portal') you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. You should leave this site if you do not wish to be bound by these Terms of Use or you are not authorised to use the Portal.
1. Introduction
These Terms of Use, together with the terms and conditions of the Zurich website from which the Portal is accessed and any User guides made available by Zurich from time to time, set out the terms on which the Intermediary and Nominated User (together ‘User’ or ‘you’) may use the Zurich Access Portal. For the avoidance of doubt, such terms shall apply to the entirety of the Portal, including without limitation, any webchat facility.
With the exception of the word User which is defined above, definitions used in these Terms of Use are explained in section 15 below.
2. Information about the Portal
The Portal is operated and maintained by Zurich Assurance Ltd (‘Zurich’). The Portal is an administrative system which provides access for Intermediaries or Nominated Users to request Quotes (and Quote Summaries), submit Applications, refer prospective claims , submit Rate Reviews and provide advice in respect of a range of pure protection group insurance products provided by Zurich.
Zurich may input Customer information provided by a User to generate Quotes (and Quote Summaries) on the Portal where requested by, and agreed in writing with, the Intermediary.
In providing access to the Portal, including without limitation any webchat facility, Zurich is not providing, and is not responsible for, any investment, legal, tax or other professional advice.
Zurich is part of the Zurich Group and is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority (under registration number 147672). Zurich Assurance Ltd. Registered in England and Wales under company number 2456671. Registered Office: Unity Place, 1 Carfax Close, Swindon SN1 1AP.
3. User responsibilities
Access to the Portal is subject to the User accepting these Terms of Use. Applications and Quotes, referrals of prospective claims and submission of Rate Reviews cannot be submitted via the Portal unless the relevant Intermediary has accepted the Terms.
Users must not to use the Portal in any manner not expressly permitted by these Terms of Use.
Users are responsible for ensuring that information entered on the Portal is accurate, true, complete and up to date. Users must use all due care and diligence when inputting data and check all information carefully with the Customer before submitting it to the Portal.
Zurich shall not be responsible for ensuring information provided by Users for Zurich to enter onto the Portal to generate Quotes and Quote Summaries on an Intermediary’s behalf is accurate, true, complete and up to date. Such information, and any reliance on the Quote and Quote Summaries remains the responsibility of the Intermediary and the Intermediary remains responsible for complying with its obligations under the Terms.
Users must inform Zurich as soon as possible if any information Zurich holds is wrong or changes or a User’s access is no longer permitted or required.
Users must be employed by the Intermediary they are associated with on the Portal and must be authorised to act on their behalf.
Users warrant they have full authority to act on the Customer’s behalf in respect of any activity undertaken via the Portal.
Users should satisfy themselves that any actions taken or advice given is suitable in any particular case. Zurich accepts no liability for any advice provided to the Customer in respect of the Portal, Portal Products and any related transactions carried out on the Portal, which remain the User’s responsibility.
The Portal is provided to support and administer the generation of Quotes (and Quote Summaries) and Applications and to enable Users to refer prospective claims and submit Rate Reviews.
The User is responsible for ensuring the Customer understands any advice, recommendations and related transactions regarding the Portal Products.
Users are responsible for providing relevant data via the Portal to enable the ongoing administration of any Policy on the Portal.
Users who register for the ‘Quote only’ access will only be able to request and view Quote Summaries.
The Portal can only be accessed by Users who have a work email address and password. Passwords must be kept secure and confidential and must not be issued to any other person.
Users must notify Zurich immediately on becoming aware of any unauthorised access to the Portal or any breach of security, including compromise of any information concerning the User access.
The Intermediary’s Portal Administrator is responsible for registering the Intermediary on the Portal and arranging access to the Portal for Users with the appropriate permissions.
Portal Administrators warrant they are authorised by the Intermediary to act in such capacity and that Users are permitted to conduct the type of business facilitated by use of the Portal.
Portal Administrators remain responsible for monitoring User access and shall remove a User’s access to the Portal where such access needs to be removed, including where such persons leave the employ of the Intermediary. Zurich accepts no responsibility for Nominated Users who have not been appropriately authorised by the Intermediary, or whose access to the Portal is not appropriate or has not been removed.
An Intermediary must have at least one Portal Administrator registered on the Portal at any time.
Portal Administrators are responsible for assigning the relevant Intermediary agency code(s) for each User. Users will be able to view all existing Policies within the Intermediary's agency code(s) the User has been assigned.
A Portal Administrator can elect for an Intermediary’s Nominated Users to share access to their work with each other. This shared access can be changed by the Portal Administrator at any time, other Nominated Users may also change the shared access option unless the Portal Administrator has selected the ‘All Sharing’ option for that Intermediary’s Users. Users acknowledge that sharing their work means the Intermediary’s other Nominated Users will be able to access Customer and Policy member data and, on their behalf, amend and apply for Quotes and Applications and submit Rate Reviews.
4. Zurich’s role and responsibilities
Zurich will operate and maintain the Portal in line with these Terms of Use. Zurich will exercise due care and diligence in operating the Portal.
The Portal software encrypts all information entered on the Portal. Zurich will act on User’s instructions, or instructions that Zurich reasonably believe have come from Users.
There may be occasions when Zurich is not able to perform its obligations under these Terms of Use due to an event beyond Zurich’s control. Zurich will be excused from performing its obligations by the occurrence of such an event and will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by Users, or for any failure to fulfil its obligations under these Terms of Use if such loss, damage or failure is caused by or is directly or indirectly due to any cause beyond the control of Zurich.
Zurich may make the Portal unavailable for maintenance and accepts no liability for any delay or loss caused as a result.
The provision of a Portal Product is subject to the terms and conditions of the Portal Product in force at the time, current copies of which are available on the Zurich Corporate Risk website.
Zurich reserves the right to immediately vary, suspend or terminate the User’s right to access the Portal for any purpose without notice at any time at Zurich’s reasonable discretion without liability.
Zurich reserves the right to decline any Quote and Quote Summary requested, any Application that is submitted by a User, any prospective claim referred via the Portal and any request to transfer a policy to the Portal.
Zurich may at its discretion and at any time (i) remove any Policy from the Portal, (ii) administer any Policy outside the Portal and (iii) put a policy onto Portal for administration.
5. Use of personal data
Zurich and the Users shall each act as a data controller of the personal data processed under these Terms of Use and shall each comply with their respective obligations under the Data Protection Legislation.
Users confirm that all the information provided to Zurich via the Portal has been obtained in accordance with Data Protection Legislation requirements, including but not limited to those relating to lawful, fair and transparent processing.
Zurich may monitor and/or record communications made via the Portal webchat function in order to improve the service being provided and for security and regulatory purposes.

6. Portal Security
Users are responsible for ensuring they have all the necessary computer hardware, software, modems, connections and other items required for access to, and use of, the Portal.
Zurich will take reasonable steps to protect against unlawful access, disclosure and loss of information under Zurich’s control.
Messages and data sent by email cannot be guaranteed to be secure and there is no guarantee the message will arrive or that the contents will remain confidential or unaltered during sending.
Users are responsible for the content of their electronic communications and Zurich reserves the right to monitor use and act appropriately in the event of improper use.
Zurich shall use reasonable endeavours to ensure the Portal is free from viruses, bugs, malware, defects, trojan horses or other similar malicious software or harmful programs. However, Zurich cannot guarantee this and does not accept responsibility for any consequences that may arise from such items where these consequences are not within Zurich’s reasonable and direct control.
Users will use best endeavours not to upload, introduce or facilitate the introduction of any viruses, bugs, malware, defects, trojan horses or other similar malicious software or harmful programs or similar computer code designed to, or which, adversely affects the operation of the Portal or any other computer software or hardware.
When downloading software on the Portal or opening or downloading links in the Portal, the User acknowledges that this is at the User’s sole risk.

7. Content of the Portal
Users acknowledge that all Intellectual Property Rights in the Portal belong to or are licensed to the Zurich Group and that in accessing or using the Portal, Users will not obtain any Intellectual Property Rights or other rights in the Portal or its contents.
Users will not use any intellectual property of the Zurich Group or its licensors without the express written consent of the relevant party.
All literature provided by, or on behalf of Zurich, will be the property of the Zurich Group.
Users will not:
- damage or diminish the goodwill or reputation attaching to the Intellectual Property Rights of the Portal;
- interfere with, reverse-engineer, disassemble, decompile, adapt, translate, alter, modify (except for obviously editable fields), frame, copy, post, reproduce, make additions or enhancements to the Portal or combine the Portal with any other software program, or link to any part of the Portal without Zurich’s prior written consent;
- produce any literature or advertisement relating to Zurich and the Zurich Group’s business (including, but not limited to the Zurich Group company name or logo or those of the Portal Products available or that of any associated company in the Zurich Group) without Zurich’s written permission;
- imply or state that Zurich endorses, sponsors, recommends or otherwise approves the Intermediary’s services and website; or
- include any material on the Portal that is unlawful, obscene, threatening, abusive, fraudulent, libellous, pornographic, defamatory or otherwise inappropriate including, without limitation, any transmissions constituting or encouraging conduct that would constitute a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any national or international law.
Users may make use of features of the Portal including, without limitation, the webchat where available, that allows Users to provide content to the Portal.
Users retain all of their ownership rights in their own content, but are required to grant Zurich limited licence to use, store and copy that content and to distribute and make it available to third parties. The content Users provide must not infringe the rights of any third party, including their rights to confidentiality, privacy and their intellectual property rights and must comply with these Terms of Use.
8. Liability
Except as expressly stated in the Terms of Use, all conditions, warranties and representations whether express or implied by statute, common law or otherwise in relation to the use of the Portal shall not be binding between Zurich and the User to the fullest extent permitted by law.
While Zurich has taken reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy, correctness and completeness of the information contained on the Portal, Zurich makes no warranty or representation to this effect, whether express or implied.
Zurich will only be liable to Users for losses arising directly as a result of Zurich’s negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or wilful default. In no circumstances will Zurich nor any Zurich Group company be liable for loss of profit (whether direct or indirect) or for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages or losses, including but not limited to the following:
- loss incurred by a User’s delay or failure to comply with these Terms of Use;
- loss or damage to devices, computer equipment or programs;
- damage to reputation;
- any error, corruption, inaccuracy or incompleteness of any information the User inputs or provides to Zurich to input on their behalf;
- loss or damage caused by delays in processing Quotes (and Quote Summaries); Applications; prospective claims referrals; Rate Review submissions, requests to transfer a policy to the Portal;
- loss associated with business interruption;
- loss caused by reason of non-receipt of an email due to the email address supplied being incorrect, Portal login or other contact details not being updated or settings not being enabled to receive emails from Zurich;
- loss from inaccuracies or errors in links from the Portal or the material contained in third party linked websites;
- loss of data, goodwill, anticipated savings, contracts, management time, expectation or investment opportunity;
- loss from issues arising from using a computer or devices, such as viruses;
- loss incurred due to the unavailability or withdrawal of the Portal or withdrawal of a Policy from the Portal and administration outside the Portal;
- loss caused to a Customer due to information given by the Intermediary to Zurich that is later contested by the Customer as not accurately reflecting the information provided by the Customer or as being fraudulent;
- loss arising from advice or recommendation given by the Intermediary and any related activity on the Portal;
- loss in connection with a decision to decline an Application, any prospective claim referred via the Portal and any request to transfer a policy to the Portal;
- loss incurred through the User’s fraudulent activity or negligence;
- loss in connection with a User not being appropriately authorised to use the Portal;
- loss in connection with a User’s failure or delay in performing any activity on the Portal;
- loss in connection the Portal’s shared access option;
- loss in connection with the use of the webchat facility; or
- loss incurred due to compliance with requirements of Applicable Laws.
Users acknowledge Zurich shall not be responsible for any delays or failure to perform its obligations under these Terms of Use to the extent that they result from (i) any failure by the User to provide such assistance as may reasonably be required by Zurich under these Terms of Use in order to enable Zurich to carry out its obligations, or (ii) any delay or failure by the User to comply with its obligations under these Terms of Use.
Nothing in these Terms of Use shall exclude or limit Zurich’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from any act, omission or negligence of Zurich or its officers, agents, employees, contractors, or any other liability the exclusion of which is expressly prohibited by law.
Nothing contained on the Portal is intended to or constitutes an offer to contract in any country in which it is accessed, other than the United Kingdom, or an offer to sell any insurance Product which may be available through the Portal in any other country.
Further, nothing on the Portal is intended as advice, recommendation, advertisement, inducement, offer to invest, deal, buy, sell or hold any insurance contract nor to engage in any investment or transaction in the United Kingdom or in any other jurisdiction. No representations are made that anything contained on the Portal is appropriate for use in locations outside of the United Kingdom and any decisions made should be based on the User’s own professional opinion or on professional advice and in compliance with local laws.
9. Third party websites
Neither Zurich nor any Zurich Group company give any endorsement or accept any liability for the operation, accuracy, content or terms and conditions of linked websites or third party services. Zurich nor any Zurich Group company provides no warranties or guarantees as to the accuracy, functionality, timeliness, performance, completeness or suitability of the information and materials found or offered on linked websites or third party services including terms and conditions for any particular purpose.
10. Amendments and conflicts
Zurich can change, remove, introduce, replace or vary these Terms of Use, the Portal and any functionality provided by the Portal without notice at any time. Variations will take effect once displayed on the Zurich Corporate Risk website and your continued use of the Portal shall constitute acceptance of such amendments. Users should therefore regularly check these Terms of Use for any changes. In the event these Terms of Use conflict with any terms on the relevant Zurich website, these Terms of Use shall prevail.
11. Invalidity and severability
If one or more provisions of these Terms of Use are declared by any court of competent jurisdiction invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions will not be affected or impaired in any way.
12. Delegation and transfer
Zurich may delegate any of its powers, duties, rights and obligations, and may transfer the benefits and burdens, under these Terms of Use to any company within the Zurich Group and/or to a third party.
13. Third Parties
No term of these Terms of Use is enforceable under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 by a person who is not a party to them, except for Zurich Group companies. Zurich may amend, supplement, rescind or terminate these Terms of Use without the consent of any other Zurich Group company.
14. Law
English law shall govern these Terms of Use and any dispute shall be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
15. Definitions
In these Terms of Use capitalised terms shall have the meanings set out below:
Applicable Laws means all laws, rules, statutes, statutory instruments, orders, regulations, guidance and codes of practice which may apply to the Intermediary or to Zurich in the conduct of their business from time to time.
Application means an application for a Portal Product which is completed on behalf of the Customer and that needs to be submitted to Zurich in order for Zurich to determine whether to issue the Customer with a policy.
Customer means any person who has received advice or a quote in relation to the Portal Products or has been issued a Policy, in each case on the Portal through the Intermediary, and any person prospectively or potentially falling within either of these categories including but not limited to legal personal representatives.
Data Protection Legislation means (i) the Data Protection Act 2018 (‘DPA’), (ii) the UK GDPR, (iii) the Privacy and Electronics Communication Regulations 2003, (iv) any guidance, guidelines, codes of practice or codes of conduct issued by the Information Commissioner’s Office and (v) any Applicable Laws replacing, amending, extending, re-enacting or consolidating any of the above.
GDPR means Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.
Intellectual Property Rights means any and all copyright and related rights; rights in databases; patents; trade marks; trade names; logos and devices; service marks; trade; business and domain names; design rights; know how; rights in computer software; moral rights; utility models, semi-conductor topography rights, rights of passing off and in unfair competition, rights in undisclosed or confidential information (including rights to inventions know-how and trade secrets) whether patentable or not, and all or any other intellectual or industrial property rights whether or not registered or capable of registration, however arising and in whatever media, and any pending applications and rights to apply for the protection or registration of any of these rights and all renewals and extensions, whether subsisting in the UK or any other part of the world and in each case as may exist now or in the future together with all or any goodwill relating thereto.
Intermediary means the adviser firm or sole trader, acting as an insurance intermediary, who is duly authorised to carry out insurance advice and recommendations, and who (except for Quote Summary requests) must have entered into the Terms with Zurich and have been permitted by Zurich to use the Portal.
Nominated User means employees that are nominated by the Intermediary to use the Portal.
Policy means any contract of group insurance in relation to the Portal Products which is entered into between Zurich and a Customer which the Intermediary has facilitated via the Portal.
Portal Administrator means a Nominated User who is appointed by the Intermediary and notified to Zurich, to manage access to the Portal on behalf of the Intermediary.
Portal Product means any pure protection group insurance product that is made available on the Portal.
Quote means an indicative illustration of the premium payable in relation to a prospective Portal Policy generated on the Portal and provided by the Intermediary to a Customer.
Quote Summary means an online indicative statement of rates but which is not a formal Quote.
Rate Review means the process by which the Intermediary may submit information required for a review by Zurich of the premium rate(s) applied to a Policy which may result in a variation to the premium rate(s) and the Policy terms and conditions.
Terms means the Zurich Intermediary Terms of Business between Zurich and the Intermediary from time to time.
UK/United Kingdom means the United Kingdom of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and does not include the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.
UK GDPR means the GDPR as incorporated into UK law under the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 and amended by the Data Protection, Privacy and Electronic Communications (Amendments etc) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019.
Zurich Group means Zurich Insurance Group Ltd a company registered in Switzerland, company number CH-020.3.023.083-6, and its direct and indirect subsidiary companies (as defined by the Companies Act 2006), and branches of such subsidiary companies from time to time.
