Making a Group Life Insurance claim
A call or an email to our claims team is all it takes to notify us of a claim. And because we have access to the online death registry, we usually don't need to see the death certificate either.
How the Group Life Insurance claim process works
Once we're notified about a claim, we'll review the information provided and decide on the next steps. Within 48 hours, we'll check the online death registry to see if we can validate the death online and send a claim form, which will need to be signed by an authorised signatory.
In most cases, we can validate the death online, but if we do need to see the death certificate and an interim certificate has been issued, we can accept it but we'll need the original certificate when it has been received. More information is available in our 'How to make a Group Life Insurance claim' guide.
How we pay Group Life Insurance claims
When paying the claim, we want to make sure the funds are secure, which is why we make the payment to the trustee(s) of the scheme via BACS. We understand, however, that this is not always possible so if there are no UK trustee account details available, we may be able to pay the beneficiary directly (please contact our claims team to help arrange this).

Fast, digital claims
To notify us of a claim, just give us a call or send us an email and our case manager will gather all the information we need to process the claim.

Speedy claims
When it comes to claims, it's important to act quickly. That's why we aim to process all claims activity as quickly as possible, often within 48 hours.

eSignatures
Digital signatures remove the need for paper forms, dramatically reducing the time it takes to make a claims decision.

Online verification of death
We can validate a UK-registered death online, usually removing the need for us to see the original death certificate.
