We currently offer two Second Medical Opinion services, so please speak to your employer to find out which one is available to you.

Second Medical Opinion service from HealthHero

Being diagnosed with a serious condition can be confusing and stressful and can cause increased anxiety and worry - get peace of mind with a Second Medical Opinion.

This Second Medical Opinion service, provided by HealthHero, offers access to a medical specialist for answers to questions you have about proposed treatment or the condition, and discuss if alternative treatment options are available.

This service can provide reassurance about a diagnosis and make sure you’re fully informed ahead of making decisions about your healthcare.

This service is available to Zurich Corporate Risk customers and eligible employees (and family members and dependants living in the same household).

Second Medical Opinion service - key features

  • Up to two second medical opinions delivered by an experienced specialist with relevant experience in the appropriate specialty, from a network of clinical specialists across the UK
  • The second medical opinion consultation can take place face-to-face, by telephone, or via secure video-link. It could also include a desktop review of medical information or a multi-disciplinary team review
  • You can ask about the specialist's expert opinion on a diagnosis, ask about a proposed treatment or possible alternative treatments, and get more information about a medical condition

If you want to arrange a consultation for a dependant child who is under the age of 16, you or another parent/legal guardian must book their appointment and must also attend the consultation.

Second Medical Opinion+ from Further

Receiving a medical diagnosis can be a very worrying, stressful and challenging time, there’s a lot to take in.

This Second Medical Opinion+, provided by Further, can offer you peace of mind about a diagnosis, with an independent, evaluation of your diagnosis, treatment plan, or medical condition from a qualified medical professional, other than your primary doctor.

This service is here to support you and enable you to ask questions about a medical diagnosis or proposed treatment pathway, offering you reassurance and essential information so you can make the healthcare decisions that suit you.

  • Independent, in-depth review of a diagnosis and treatment by medical experts in all specialties
  • Peace of mind that the correct diagnosis and treatment plan is in place
  • Offers choice when making health decisions with alternative options that may not be available in the UK
  • A full clinical report of results and recommendations, providing information and options for next steps
  • Access to a pool of global experts
  • Covers cancer, heart surgery, neurosurgery, bone marrow transplant and live-donor organ transplant
  • This service is available once per unique diagnosis
  • Other services are available if the Second Medical Opinion+ report recommends treatment that is not available in the UK
  • A dedicated Case Manager to address any questions for informed health decisions
  • Access to Further’s Precision CancerCare service

Speak to your employer to find out if you have access to this service, and if so, they will send you the link to access the service – or you can access/register through our Zurich Plus app.
