Zurich Municipal and Zurich Community Trust make 2020 charity donation

One of the many things that had to change this year was the way that we ran our events and embracing the virtual world. One thing, however, that we were determined to keep the same was that Zurich Municipal would work with Zurich Community Trust (ZCT) to support charities through events.
For every person who attended one of our virtual events this year we made a contribution to one of our charities. Through this and an added donation from ZCT, a grand total of £32,000 has been split between two fantastic charities; Dementia UK and Place2Be.
The two charities have taken the time to share what these donations mean to them:
“A huge thank you to the Zurich Municipal events team for such a generous donation. It's been a particularly challenging year for families with dementia, who have seen support services drying up overnight and increased deterioration in family members diagnosed. “We are beyond thrilled here at Place2Be to hear the news that Zurich Municipal have pledged to make a donation which builds on the incredible support of the Zurich Community Trust. These funds will help us to provide our dedicated team of mental health experts in each of our partner schools. Children with the greatest need will have direct weekly 1-2-1 counselling while any child in the school can access our self-referral support. Our team is also there for parents and school staff - so needed in these challenging times when schools, at the heart of our local communities, really are at ‘the frontlines’. The pandemic has intensified an already desperate situation for many families across the UK and 1 in 6 children now have a diagnosable mental health condition, a rise from 1 in 9 in 2017. Thanks to you we will be able to make a real and meaningful difference in the lives of our children and young people. Supporting Dementia UK and Place2Be is something that means a lot to everyone in Zurich Municipal. Andrew Jepp, Managing Director explains, “As we have gone through 2020 I have reflected on the many things for which I can be grateful in the knowledge that so many others have so many challenges and difficulties to contend with. It is for this reason the support we provide our charity partners is so important and I am so pleased that we have been able to continue what we started last year through our physical events, as we moved to a virtual world. I cannot sum up better than the words of Susan from Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline who wrote to me to say ‘…your donation will mean we can be there for the families in desperate need of support, when they have nowhere else to turn!’
If you have attended any of the virtual events we’ve hosted this year, whether through our Customer Week or through webinars, we want to say a big thank you to you. Thanks to these events and your involvement we have been able to donate this money with ZCT and make a different to these two organisations whose hard work and dedication makes a huge difference to many people’s lives.
