Globally, Zurich spends USD 3.5 billion a year buying products and services for our business, ranging from IT services to office furniture; and toiletry products to stationery.

This purchasing power gives us a lot of leverage and a lot of influence; and we can use it to do good.

At Zurich, we can help to create a positive social impact simply by changing our buying behaviour. This is called social procurement. It’s where we embed our purpose and values into our supply chain by opening it up to social enterprises - these are businesses that are focused on creating positive social change.

In some business units across the Zurich Group, we are already supporting social enterprises. And, as part of our soon-to-be-launched Sustainable Sourcing Vision, we are encouraging business units across the Zurich Group to actively seek to procure products and services with organizations that drive positive societal, environmental and ethical outcomes.

Janette Evans-Turner, Head of Sourcing and Procurement in the UK, said, "Our sustainability sourcing vision will allow us to focus on the three pillars. We've created a toolkit which supports our onboarding process with third parties, our tender process, and manages our third party suppliers through the life cycle of our partnerships."
