How to do a risk assessment for your not-for-profit

Whether your local council, charity or not for profit organisation runs just one type of service, or a multitude of different activities, it is important to ensure you’ve considered any risks that you, your volunteers or your service users face. Risk assessments can support your decision making processes and ensure risks have been identified with appropriate mitigating actions highlighted.

If you’re unsure on how to do a risk assessment, we have produced a guidance document to help you consider how to manage conventional work and service related risks. The document includes a 5-step guide on how to complete a risk assessment, answers relevant FAQ’s and provides various links to other useful resources.

Please note that this is intended to provide generic guidance only, to help you identify what may need to be considered when completing risk assessments for your local community organisation. Please continue to refer to all government, regulatory and legislative guidance to ensure your organisation's continued compliance with regulatory obligations
