Bereavement can affect people in very different ways, but if you’re coming to terms with the emotional, financial and practical consequences of a loss, having timely access to relevant help and support can be invaluable.

If your employer has a Group Life Insurance policy with Zurich Corporate Risk, then you and your immediate family members may be eligible to access our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), including bereavement and probate support, from Health Assured. Immediate family members means your spouse/partner and children aged 16 to 24 in full-time education, living in the same household.

What kinds of topics can the Health Assured EAP help with? 

  • Bereavement and probate support
  • Mental health and wellbeing (including confidential bereavement counselling)
  • Legal issues, including guidance on debt and other financial issues
  • Family matters, including childcare and eldercare
  • Physical health, including guidance on diet, sleep and exercise (through the Wisdom app)

What does the Health Assured EAP offer?

Key features:

  • Up to eight one-hour counselling sessions relating to bereavement, from a network of more than 1,650 counsellors across the UK and Ireland. Sessions can be delivered online, or over the phone
  • Bereavement and probate support
  • Callers are proactively allocated to counsellors with lived experience
  • Unlimited access to a 24/7 confidential helpline, with counsellors and advisors on hand 365 days a year, to offer friendly, initial guidance on medical, legal and financial wellbeing, family issues including childcare and eldercare, housing and tenancy concerns, relationships and marital changes, and redundancy
  • An online library containing a wide range of self-help tools, webinars, factsheets and health checks
  • Access to the Wisdom app
  • All counsellors are qualified and ISO/IEC 27001 accredited, which is an international standard to manage information security

How do I access the Health Assured EAP and Wisdom app?

To use the EAP service, call the helpline on 0800 023 2296.

You can download the Wisdom app from your app store and register using the unique code which you can request from your employer.
