Mobility India (MI) is passionate about the needs of people with disabilities, especially those in poorer areas and women and children who often have difficulty in getting access to support.
They provide training to professionals, much needed rehabilitation and livelihood training and manufacture prosthetics. Some research and development is also undertaken.
They started in Bangalore in 1994 with just nine staff.  Since then Mobility India has grown rapidly and now has over 100 staff in their main state of the art training centre in Bangalore and another centre in rural Kolkata.

Who they support

Their vision is that people with disabilities are an integral part of society.
Their mission is to promote mobility in persons with disability, especially in rural areas, through awareness creation, research, and development, improved services, and all other activities to promote integration of people with disabilities into society.

How they do it

Key to this expansion has been the building of a new state of the art and fully accessible centre that houses all of MI’s activities in Bangalore including a professional training facility. The multi-purpose conference hall was funded by Zurich Community Trust and our staff had the honour of officially opening it in 2000.
