The Proud Trust

What's the challenge?

The Proud Trust is the UK's only purpose-built LGBT+ Centre. They have been supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people for the last 30 years by running weekly support groups and workshops.

The Centre recorded 8,300 visitors last year which has left the centre in need of a little attention with regards to the general wear and tear. Could you and a team help make the centre more comfortable and welcoming for those they support? If so, could you spare half a day helping to decorate and put your DIY skills to good use on Thursday 20 December between 10am-5pm? The centre will be closed for Christmas so the repairs and decorating can take place. A little fundraising would also be required to help support this day.

Better Things is a charity working with people with learning disabilities. promoting inclusion, health and wellbeing across Greater Manchester. They facilitate projects and opportunities for people with to take part in and contribute to their local communities while learning and sharing valuable life and social skills. All projects and activities take part in community environments. They campaign and raise awareness about learning disabilities and associated issues including health inequalities and disability hate crime. They also run social inclusion projects, projects which engage with harder to reach people with learning disabilities.

The charity want to run a festive "Fairytale of New York" themed event for members to include market stall style craft and activity stalls, Christmas karaoke, street food style buffet, Santa's grotto. They would love to have some extra helping hands to support this event, man some stalls, engage with attendees. This will be their last activity for their members before Christmas. For those that live alone or away from family, their Christmas event has become a really important part of their festivities and gives a great sense of inclusion across their membership. They are yet to confirm a date but they are looking at a Tuesday in December. The location will be a community centre in Wythenshawe between 11am- 3pm (this includes setting up time). Any help towards this event would be a massive help to Better Things.
