The Brendoncare Foundation

What's the challenge?

Brendoncare exists to care for older people with dignity and respect, improving their quality of life. The charity does this by providing care for life in care homes, and tackling social isolation through friendship and well-being clubs.

They would love a team to make a care home festive! The tasks will include working with the residents and staff to put up and decorate the Christmas tree, put up decorations around the care home and make the whole home get in the Christmas spirit! This challenge can be booked by more than one team as there are 4 homes within the area.

Henry Tyndale School

What's the challenge?

Henry Tyndale is a Community Special School catering for approximately 150 pupils, who have complex learning difficulties across the age range from two to nineteen years, many students also have an additional need such as a physical disability, a language disorder or an autism spectrum disorder. It is also the Lead School for the Better Together Teaching School Alliance.

Father Christmas' grotto for their Christmas Fair on Saturday 1 December is in need of a make over. It has got very tired and tatty and needs a shiny and colourful make over. They would love a team to create a new grotto and even help on the day to man it if possible. Presents are not required as already sourced.

Oakleaf Enterprise

What's the challenge?

Oakleaf are one of Farnborough's MYF partners. they work with individuals mental illness to reduce isolation, foster confidence and give practical skills and training to help them return to work and society.

A Christmas Curry lunch is organised on Tuesday 18th December for all of their clients (approx. 50+ clients usually attend the event) They would love a team to help with the set up of the equipment, cooking of the food and drink followed by the clearing away and washing up post event.

What's the challenge?

Step by Step empower young people and prevent homelessness, they work with people from 11-25 years old. Through their range of services they support young people to break the cycle of homelessness and progress towards their aspirations.

They would love a team to put up Christmas decorations at one of the accommodation areas in Aldershot. They have some bits already such as a Christmas tree but would welcome some new decorations too.

What's the challenge?

Step by Step empower young people and prevent homelessness, they work with people from 11-25 years old. Through their range of services they support young people to break the cycle of homelessness and progress towards their aspirations.

They would love a team to provide some vouchers for presents for the young people and/or food vouchers to buy a special Christmas dinner and treats for the young people.

Bells Piece (Leonard Cheshire) 

What's the challenge?

Bells Piece supports adults with learning through the provision of three services, residential home, support living service and an activities and lifeskills centre.

Carousel theatre are a touring theatre group and are going to be doing Christmas pantos. They would love for a team to fundraise approx. £150 for them to visit Bells Piece. They would also like to make it a fun festive day with party games in the afternoon.

Woodlarks Camp Site Trust

What's the challenge?

Woodlarks are a campsite specifically for people with disabilities and ran mostly by volunteers. They provide high end specialist facilities to meet the complex and multiple needs of the people who use the facility.

Every year, they create a very magical Santa's grotto within the woodland on their site. Over 200 children with profound and complex needs come to see Santa at this magical place completely free of charge. The entire event is funded solely by the efforts of the Woodlarks team. They would really appreciate some help from as many teams as possible providing wrapped Christmas gifts "from Santa". Each gift would be worth up to £15 and they need to get 180 of them from any source they can. Any presents you can offer will be very gratefully received. This challenge can be booked by multiple teams.

Phyllis Tuckwell

What's the challenge?

Phyllis Tuckwell is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients, and their families, living with cancer or another terminal illness (such as heart, lung or neurological disease) across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire.

 

Every year 100's of people in Surrey get their Santa outfits on and enjoy a great family fun run (or walk) with mulled wine, mince pies and festive tracks, it is a fantastic way to kick off the festive season and raise vital funds for Phyllis Tuckwell. They need help with goody bag packing before the Aldershot Santa Fun Run. Can you spare a couple of hours during w/c 19 November?

Frensham Christmas Fair is taking place on Tuesday 20th November at Aldridge Theatre and they would love 4-6 volunteers to support with the setup and running for a 4 hour shift. You would be supporting stallholders to unload their cars, carrying goods, setting up tables, man the entrance table, taking payment, welcoming customers to the Fair or even running their stall selling Christmas cards/goods.
