What's the challenge?

Stroud Beresford Group support women and children who have experienced the issues of domestic violence and abuse, including managing the local Women’s Refuge.

 

Please provide Xmas presents, wrapped and tagged, for up to 25 children who will spend Xmas in the Refuge.  The name, age and gender of each child will be available in early-November.   The suggested spend is a maximum of £15 per child.

What's the challenge?

Gloucester Foodbank provides three day emergency food and support to local people in crisis.

At the end of October/early November, the Foodbank need a small team of people for an afternoon to sort the mountain of donations arriving for festive parcels in their Great Western Rd, Gloucester building.

Gloucester Foodbank provides three day emergency food and support to local people in crisis.

 

In 2016, they provided over 100 local children with food parcels in the weeks leading up to Xmas. A few additional festive items were put into each of these parcels.  Please provide 100 large, wrapped selection boxes to be included in the parcels this year.

What's the challenge?

Mind, one of our existing National Partners, are the key provider of mental health services and support in the town. This challenge is for their charity shop in Gloucester.

Here's a challenge for the whole building plus family and friends! It's time to go through your cupboards and wardrobes to throw out those clothes, books, cd's, toys and homeware that you'll never use again in readiness for your Chrimbo pressies.  Please provide 15 bags full of good quality second hand items to replenish the stock in Mind's local charity shop.  Mind will provide branded bags.  All you have to do is fill them and deliver your donations to their shop.  What could be more simple?

What's the challenge?

St Thomas More School is a mainstream primary school located in Hester's Way, a deemed area of deprivation.

 

 

By 14 December, please transform a wooden shed into Santa's Grotto using deccies, drapes and loads of imagination.  Santa will use this to give out pressies to the nursery school pupils. Piccies from last year available to give some ideas.

What's the challenge?

St Thomas More School is a mainstream primary school located in Hester's Way, a deemed area of deprivation.

On Friday 8 December, please provide a team from 3.30 to 6.00 pm to put up Xmas deccies in the school, so that when the children get to school on the Monday, they will feel that the magic of Xmas has arrived.   This has always been a fun challenge for teams because they split into two groups and turn the tree decoration into a competition!  A few additional decorations would be an added bonus.

1028  Souper!

The Cornerstone Centre, Cheltenham 

What's the challenge?

The Cornerstone Centre is located on Whaddon, Lynworth and Priors. This centre exists to provide a safe place for local people in this deemed area of deprivation to make friends and learn new skills.

 

Every Thursday they provide “Soup Lunch” for up to 40 people. Please ensure Xmas comes to Soup Lunch on a Thurs in December Dec by providing Christmas crackers, paper table cloths and napkins, mince pies and a variety of cheeses.  It’ll be a real bonus if some of the team could go across to the Centre (11.30 to 1.30) to help serve soup and talk to the guests.

Carers Gloucestershire support some of the 63,000 unpaid adult carers around Gloucestershire with advice, information and organising social activities. Anybody could become a carer overnight, and 3 out of 5 of us will become a carer at some point in our lives.
 

 

Please provide a luxury hamper for their Christmas Raffle.  Your choice of contents - it could be bottles, chocolate or festive items.

What's the challenge?

The Ridge Academy, located on the Whaddon estate, is a special primary school for 44 pupils with behavioural, emotional and social needs.

 

 

They would like a wrapped large selection box for each child as they receive very few pressies on Christmas Day.

County Community Projects (CCP)

What's the challenge?

County Community Projects (CCP) run numerous projects across the county to improve the lives of vulnerable children, young people and families with multiple and complex needs.   Zurich/Endsleigh/Capita employees always give massive support to Hamper Scamper, CCP's Xmas Appeal (to be launched to employees in mid-Nov). 

Please adopt one of their many Hamper Scamper wrapping, packing, sorting food sessions.  Each session is 2.5 hours and they are available in the morning or afternoon.

WARNING:You’ll have to be quick out of the blocks because these sessions get snapped up by other businesses too.

What's the challenge?

James Hopkins Trust, provides free nursing respite for young Gloucestershire children who are life limited, life threatened or severely disabled.

 

JHT has a Xmas raffle on 10 December and they'd like a team to provide 3 hampers for their raffle - one full of choccie (or festive items) one for men and one for the ladies.

1035  Tree is not a crowd

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court

What's the challenge?

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court is the local hospice for people over 18 years, who are terminally ill with conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease.

On 11 or 12 December, please bring Christmas to the patients and visitors by providing and decorating a real Christmas tree in the chapel and decorating two more artificial trees (already on site) in the communal areas.

Gift wrapping in Regents Arcade, Cheltenham. Teams of up to 4 people are required for either a morning, afternoon or evening session (incl weekends) wrapping gifts that shoppers have bought.  They'll then give a donation towards the food parcels scheme for the service you have provided.
