201  DIY SOS

Mountford Manor Primary School

What's the challenge?

Mountford Manor Primary School is located in Walcot, a deemed area of deprivation.  As such, their children come from various backgrounds and often require additional educational and emotional support.

Website

Year 6 students have a designated area that is used for their social development as they prepare for secondary school.  It's their "grown up" area of the playground.   They'd like an outdoor blackboard allowing them to be creative, board games mounted to tables, an outside covered book shelf and their wooden seating needs painting.  DIY skills are a must and their teacher has a good idea of all materials required and how to use them (he's keen on DIY !). Swindon Restore

What's the challenge?

Swindon Restore – a sister project to Swindon Foodbank – was set up to provide volunteering opportunities for people in the Parks and Walcot areas of the town. This will be the smallest makeover ever but it will require some creative thinking!   Please turn a dumping ground of a cupboard that has previously been a loo, into a small office to be used by the Manager of the Foodbank.  Photos >

Swindon MIND

What's the challenge?

They have two small counselling rooms (7 & 8) that are bland and need a makeover so that they become more homely and more conducive to counselling.  This will include decorating in a warm colour, a few small paintings and more appropriate lighting (lamps would be ideal).  It would also be a bonus (but it's not expected) if you could provide comfy seating and blinds.
