The Rowans Hospice

What's the challenge?

The Rowans Hospice supports people living well to the end of life and attaining a good death within a caring and compassionate community. Their services include Hospice at Home, Inpatient rooms, Day Care, OT, Physiotherapy, patient and family support through psychologists and bereavement specialists, among others.

Website

As the central point of collection and storage of all their donations, the warehouse in Farlington is a hive of activity. They would welcome a team to work alongside their regular volunteers to sort donations. The warehouse is responsible for quality checking items that are identified for sale, as well as responding to shop stock order requests. Maximum group size 5 People.

CLIC Sargent

What's the challenge?

When cancer strikes young lives, CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. They will fight tirelessly for children and young people with cancer, often when they feel they can’t. They do this individually, locally and nationally, so that the young people can focus on the important things, like getting well.

CLIC Sargent challenges you to collect items to create five emergency care packages which can go into the Southampton Home from Home. You will be provided with a list of suggested items, which will include everyday items such as toiletries, tea and coffee (and not forgetting the biscuits!).

133  The Depot Challenge

FareShare Southern Central

What's the challenge?

FareShare Southern Central (operated by SCRATCH Charity) rescues surplus food which would otherwise go to waste and redistributes it to charities and projects working with vulnerable people.

Website

The challenge is to sort, pick and pack one ton of surplus food which will be distributed to charities and community groups. In a team of four, you will be rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in! It is a physically demanding role as you will be expected to lift trays of food up to 15kg. You will also have the chance to go out on the van to deliver food to charity partners. This challenge can be booked by a couple of teams.

Step by Step

What's the challenge?

Step by Step’s mission is to empower young people and prevent homelessness. They passionately believe in supporting young people aged 11 to 25, who are going through hard times, including homelessness.

Website

They challenge a team to take on a fundraising event for Step by Step. This could be setting up a quiz night, holding a bucket collection, running a cake stall or anything else that takes your fancy! You will be given full support by their community fundraiser. The more money raised, the more young people will be helped.

Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association (Footprints)

What's the challenge?

Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association (Footprints) provides essential friendship, advice and educational services to children and their families in Portsmouth and South Hampshire.

Website

They would love a team of supporters to come along and help manage their Great South Run 5k and Junior teams on Saturday 21 October from approximately 9am – 3.30pm on Southsea Common. Tasks include registering the runners, meeting and greeting families, blowing up balloons, giving out flags and balloons to the public, giving out and collecting in running vests, cheering the runners and helping to tidy away.

What's the challenge?

Zurich delivers its community involvement programme through the Zurich Community Trust (UK) Ltd, a registered charity which is funded by an annual donation from the Zurich UK businesses and by generous donations from Zurich's UK employees.

The Great South Run is taking place on Sunday 23 October and we need you to make it even better for our supporters! We are in need of happy, loud and enthusiastic cheerers to help support our runners in the Great South Run. We can help you to identify where to place cheer points on the route and we will also provide you with banners. It would also be great if you could organise a Post-Race Reception so that our fabulous runners can grab a drink, sugary snack and of course a MASSIVE thank you!  100% Matching.
