012 Game Changers

Active Gloucestershire

What's the challenge?

Active Gloucestershire exists to encourage everybody in Gloucestershire to be active every day, regardless of age and ability.  Inactivity is one of the greatest challenges facing society today, and participation in a sporting activity can also reduce loneliness or isolation.

Active Gloucestershire leads on the county finals of the Gloucestershire School Games.  County finals are staged in 30 different sports at 3 Olympic and Paralympic-style multi-sport events. They would like a team to help them at the September event (date tbc) to ensure it's successful.

 

 

013 Moving On Up

What's the challenge?

CCP exists to transform the lives of children, young people, families and vulnerable adults by preventing homelessness, strengthening families and promoting independence.

Please provide 10 Moving In Boxes for homeless young teenagers when they arrive at CCP with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing.  The Box is invaluable - a starter pack for the next stage of their life. Items will include two pillows, a single duvet, an alarm clock, toiletries and towels. As each box will cost approx £50 to collate,

014  Space Case

Family Space

What's the challenge?

Family Space work with vulnerable families to improve parenting skills to ensure, wherever possible, that intervention from other agencies is reduced.

Family Space would like to support children from deprived areas when they return to school in September by giving them a pencil case filled with pencils, a sharpener, eraser, ruler, scissors, highlighter set etc. Ideally they would like 30 - 20 for girls and 10 for boys.

 

 

 

015  Space Craft

What's the challenge?

Family Space work with vulnerable families to improve parenting skills to ensure, wherever possible, that intervention from other agencies is reduced.

Family Space support families during the summer holidays and would love to give 50 families a craft set (up to £5 from Wilkinson's or Hobbycraft)  to encourage more interaction between children and parents.

 

 

 

016 Money Talks

What's the challenge?

CCP exists to transform the lives of children, young people, families and vulnerable adults by preventing homelessness, strengthening families and promoting independence.

Challenge meets Skillshare!  Please run a series of 3 x 2 hour workshops to help vulnerable clients learn how to become more financially inclusive and digitally aware and active. This could be how to use cost comparison sites, how to budget or how to reduce their bills or how to prepare for the future financially. These are just ideas and the team can come up with their own based on  these themes.  Course attendees (6-12 for each workshop) would have a range of abilities and ages and they may have conditions such as dyspraxia and dyslexia.   

 

017  Make a Wish

Winston's Wish

What's the challenge?

Winston's Wish is the leading child bereavement charity in the UK.  They help children confronted by the death of a parent or sibling to face the future with confidence and hope.

Website

Winston's would like a team to help them on Sunday 1 October from 8.00 am to 1.00pm  at the Racecourse, the location for the Cheltenham Half Marathon.  Roles include Meet & Greet, marshalling and generally making sure that the Winston's Wish runners feel valued. 

 

 

 

018  Three is the Magic Number

James Hopkins Trust

What's the challenge?

James Hopkins Trust (JHT) provides free nursing respite for young Gloucestershire-based children who are life limited, life threatened or severely disabled.  They currently support 90 local families, and referrals increase year on year for their services.

Website

JHT have a summer fete on Sunday 9 July at their Kites Corner Centre in Barnwood.  Please repeat their successful challenge of 2016 to provide three hampers for their raffle - one full of choccies, one for the men and one for the ladies.

 

 

 

019 It's a set up!

 Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice

What's the challenge?

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court is the local hospice for people over 18 years, who are dealing with the issues of a terminal illness, and their carers.

 

Website

September 9th is their annual Autumn Fayre, held on the Hospice grounds. They need help setting up from Wednesday 6th September through to Friday 8th September. Jobs that will need doing include putting up marquees/gazebos, setting out tables and chairs, signage and branding around the building/grounds, preparing the BBQ area and labelling up the bottle tombola prizes. Choose one of the days and make as much of a difference as you can.  You can even fundraise for Sue Ryder if you wish to as a bonus.

 

020  The Big Clean Up
