In April this year, Zurich Community Trust (ZCT) in collaboration with charity Volunteering Matters, put out the call to recruit a number of volunteer mentors within Zurich offices across the UK to work with young people with disabilities, as part of their new pilot programme ‘Inspiring Young Disabled People.'

The good news is we have now recruited 17 volunteers across six Zurich and Endsleigh offices!  Each volunteer has also now been matched with the young person they will be mentoring until October.

Over the next few weeks, our mentors will be meeting with their mentees and arranging times for them to come into the offices during that time, where they will be spending time ‘work shadowing’ in a variety of teams to help them acquire broader life skills and develop their aspirations in life, whatever these may be.

The young people supported through the pilot could be affected by any one, or combination of, conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Downs Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, dyslexia and dyscalculia. They're all looking forward to their placements and we'll bring you more news as the partnership develops.
