Zurich helps students get passionate about numbers as it backs first ever National Numeracy Day

Insurer is partnering with Holly Lodge High School, Birmingham to deliver ‘Financial Literacy’ skills - part of its wider ‘Youth Skills’ schools programme
At Zurich we’re proud to be supporting the first ever National Numeracy Day, celebrating numeracy and helping people gain greater confidence with numbers.
As a leading insurance company, and employer of thousands of people in the UK, Zurich understands how important numeracy is to our everyday lives and we’re working with schools across the UK to help raise the standard of financial literacy.
The company has recently partnered with Holly Lodge High School, Smethwick, Birmingham (pictured left) to deliver its Financial Literacy module, helping 11-17yrs old gain a better understanding of risk and financial literacy with its bespoke ‘Financial Literacy’ training module.
Zurich volunteers (pictured right) from its Hagley Road office are helping deliver it’s three-hour financial literacy module to Holly Lodge Year 7 pupils on a class-by-class basis, covering everything from the basics of bank accounts to budgeting using practical numeracy exercises to help students feel more comfortable working with numbers and figures.
Volunteers also help Holly Lodge students explore career opportunities within the insurance industry, helping prepare young people for the increasingly competitive and fast-changing world of work and to help motivate young people to consider careers in insurance, supporting them in making informed choices about their future.

It’s another great way of engaging our students in numbers which complements our everyday teaching. About National Numeracy Day
National Numeracy Day is a celebration of numbers and how we use them in everyday life. It brings together individuals, employers, educators and supporters from across the UK to show the importance of numbers and the benefits of using them more effectively.
National Numeracy Day encourages people to feel curious about how numbers can benefit them, know how they can develop their numeracy skills and be confident that they can improve.
The campaign is run by the UK charity National Numeracy.
