We recognise that some organisations may want to offer to pay for counselling or support services.
We follow the recommendations made in the 2015 Rehabilitation Code of Practice, which was based on input from the International Underwriting Association (IUA), the Association of British Insurers (ABI), Lloyd's, insurers, legal groups, care providers and the NHS.
The 2015 Rehabilitation Code of Practice encourages both sides to seek early medical redress so as to mitigate the effects of any injury or post trauma as a priority and to pursue the process on a collaborative basis.
We do not deem offering counselling or support to the claimant in itself to be an admission of legal liability, and we support the provision of appropriate support for victims of abuse.
We are happy to discuss arrangements for the policyholder to provide support services on a case by case basis.
