  • What attracted you to Zurich?
    From university I applied after seeing an ad in the local paper. It was a difficult job market so I was grateful for the opportunity. Once I’d joined I realised that it could be a career and quickly proved myself and moved up the career ladder.
  • What does your current role involve?
    Developing and delivering strategy for the underwriting function.
  • What are the key skills required for your job?
    For my role, I need the ability to influence and to work from a blank piece of paper, clear thinking, and knowledge of people and processes in underwriting.
  • What is the best/most rewarding thing about your job?
    I can take it where I want it to go – I have free range.
  • Is there the opportunity for career progression?
    Absolutely – I haven’t had a job for longer than 12 months since joining Zurich 15 years ago. In that time I’ve gained international experience and worked across different departments.

  • What does a typical day look like?
    There are no typical days!
  • How does working for Zurich fit with your life/work balance?
    I work part-time as I have two young children. I have a very supportive boss and have to be more flexible with getting work done but it works very well.
