Trust Transformation programmes

Through the Trust we manage innovative and pioneering Transformation programmes,  always supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society.

This often means working on less popular issues and in the past have tackled issues such as domestic violence, dementia and social exclusion.

These Transformation programmes involve working closely with charity partners for 3-5 years.

How we select Transformation programmes

Our major programmes are selected to make an impact on an issue through long term funding and active employee involvement.

Firstly, our Community Trust team will select an issue to support after lengthy research and consultation with the voluntary sector, the Trust Board, the Trust Executive and employee committees.

Then we look for innovative projects which are sustainable and could be replicated elsewhere.  Often this means that we fund core costs such as staff salaries.  From time to time, we will fund capital projects for new buildings for the right project.

We only accept applications from those who have been invited to apply, and DO NOT accept ad hoc applications.

What impact was made in 2009?

  • 500 vulnerable older people were supported through a regular telephone support service.
  • 250 vulnerable families where a parent misuses drugs were helped.
  • 6,000 children who have a mental health issue were helped.
  • 7 Non Governmental Organisations  (NGOs) were supported in southern India to build the capacity of their organisations.
