The facts about our ageing population

As a nation, we face enormous challenges to support our ageing population.

• There are 9.6 million people over 65 in the UK with 4.6 million of those being over 75 years old. 
• 1.8 million pensioners live in poverty
• People over 75 will account for 10% of the population by 2023

Current programme - A Call in Time

As part of our Older People programme, our aim is to work with a select group of partners who will bring about lasting change and real impact. Since 2002, £2.2 million has been committed to support projects which ensure that the most vulnerable and isolated older people have a better quality of life.

 

Our current project, A Call in Time, working in partnership with Age UK, supports isolated and vulnerable older people through telephone intervention.  Our support involves a combination of long-term funding and business skills and we work in genuine partnership with our partners. Please click on the links for more information on A Call in Time and what it has achieved.  

Past projects
