ZURICH COMMUNITY TRUST AWARDS 2009

12 May 2009, London:  Tuesday 12 May 2009 at 12.30 prompt was the time and the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn was the place! The Zurich Community Trust Awards Ceremony and Lunch 2009 had finally arrived. Over 80 guests, comprising finalists, judges, guests from the voluntary sector and senior representatives from across the Zurich businesses in the UK joined forces to celebrate the achievements of the finalists and announce the winners.

This was the fourth awards scheme run by Zurich to recognise the tremendous volunteering and fundraising efforts of Zurich’s employees, Openwork's employees and members, plus Capita employees working on the Zurich contract. 

Hosted by Chris Gillies, Chair, Zurich Community Trust and Head of Growth & Strategic Marketing, Global Life, the event set out to place firmly in the spotlight those individuals and teams that have made a real difference to people's lives.  To share in the celebrations, David Sims, CEO UK Life congratulated finalists at the pre-lunch reception and the trophies were given out by Guy Munnoch, CEO, UKGI & Shared Services, David Hall, CEO, GCUK and Keith Carby, CEO, Openwork.  

The winners of each category received a £1000 cash award to donate to a charity of their choice with the runners-up each receiving £500 to donate to a selected cause. 

Corporate Citizenship, a leading corporate social responsibility consultancy, was appointed by Zurich Community Trust to act as independent external assurers to ensure that the application and judging process was both transparent and impartial. While the final external judging panel consisted of representatives from the voluntary sector and senior Zurich employees - with Corporate Citizenship in attendance to observe.
