Our Friday Favourite - inside the head of Steve Grimmett

The A-Z Friday Favourites of Steve Grimmett

Steve Grimmett

Steve works as a Zurich Cares Manager based in Whiteley. Here Steve tells us about his love of sausage rolls and working for Zurich. Over to you Steve...

Actor - who do you admire?

I really don’t watch much television or films – but someone like David Jason has made me laugh probably more than any other or actress over the years

Book – what was your last good read?

I was in the Isle of Syke in April and I bought a book called ‘Calums Road  - about a chap who single handledly built his own road from one part of the Isle of Rassay to the other because the local council wouldn’t – it took him 30 years!

Celebrity – who do you love to watch or read about?

The whole celebrity culture has passed me by – really not interested.  Personally I know they get a bad press in some quarters and have a very privileged life but I do admire the workload of a many of the Royal Family

Daily ritual – what’s the one thing you do every day without fail?

Phone my Mum

Episode of your life – what’s your most memorable?

Has to be the 2 April this year when I got married to Carol

Friday Fun Poll - what answer did you pick?

Would have to be top spec camera

Guaranteed to make you gripe – what’s your pet peeve?

I really hate poor customer service – people who are not interested in you as a customer

Hobbies – what’s the one hobby or interest you enjoy most?

Horse riding – it’s the one thing you have to concentrate on to the exclusion of all other thoughts

Indulgence – what can’t you resist?

Must confess I am a bit partial to a pasty or a sausage roll

Joy – what brings you joy?

Seeing those around me happy

Knowledge – what would be your specialist subject on Mastermind?

Probably ought to say something to do with charities seeing as though I’ve been doing this job for 10 years now

Laugh out loud – what generated your last fit of giggles?

I still keep in contact with Henri Ginvert who used to work for Zurich (and Eagle Star) for many years before he retired.  He generally doesn’t manage to get through a few days before another Frank Spencer-esque type incident happens to him

Menagerie – do you own any pets?

Yes, Carol and I have a horse (see picture above) and a cat

Nickmame – what was your nickname growing up?

I did have one and for the life of me I can’t remember!

Order – tell us your favourite meal

Vegetable Byriani

Place – what can’t be beaten?

For our honeymoon this year, we went to the Outer Hebrides – the island of Harris with it’s white sands was something out of this world – we were extremely lucky with the weather though

Quirky habit – do you have any?

Don’t know about quirky – but I am quite OCD when it comes to shutting the front door and checking that the car is locked

Record – what’s your favourite CD?

Showing my age here – probably something like “Unforgettable Fire” by U2

Smell – what’s the best… and the worst!

Worst – BO on someone – best, either a freshly cooked pasty or being out the stables

Telepathy – if you could read someone else’s mind, whose would it be?

The Boss – that could be quite handy

Unwind – how do you like to relax?

Sat under a tree or in the middle of a field somewhere doing not a lot

Valuable – what’s your prized possession?

Better say Carol – if I’m not allowed to say that then my internet radio

Way to spend £10 – what would you choose?

Cup of tea and a tea cake with Carol

Xtraordinary – do aliens exist?

I live in Salisbury, Wiltshire and we do have our fair share of crop circles – but aliens, I don’t think so – more like a bored farmer

Year – what’s your favourite time of year?

Spring – I love it when the nights are getting a little longer, the sun is starting to get a bit warmer and all of the spring bulbs are flowering

Zurich – what’s your favourite thing about working for Zurich?

I’m very lucky to have worked for Zurich’s Community Trust for the past 10 years.  May sound corny – but it’s true, the staff who work for Zurich are second to none when it comes to helping others
