Suggestions for other funds

We're sorry that we're unable to fund your specific area of need. We do have limited funds and this means we have to lay down strict criteria for giving.


However, there are many other funders who do choose other areas of need and here are some suggestions for where to look.

Association of Charitable Foundations (ACF)


You can find a list of funders on the ACF web site at www.acf.org.uk. They also have downloadable copies of their advice leaflets, facts and figures about trusts and foundations and other useful resources for fundraisers.


The Directory of Social Change (DSC)


A great source of information and training to voluntary and community sector.

DSC publishes independent and well-researched books for the charity and voluntary sector covering charity fundraising, campaigning, finance, charity law, management, media and marketing.

This is a list of their key directories:
• A Guide to the Major Trusts – Vols. 1 and ' 2 published by the Directory of Social Change. Annual directories which include the largest 2,000 grant making trusts. www.dsc.org.uk
• The Directory of Grant Making Trusts, published by the Directory of Social Change, giving details of approximately 2,500 – also available on CD www.dsc.org.uk
• Guides to regional and local trusts published by the Directory of Social Change.  Publish a number of regional guides. www.dsc.org.uk
• A Guide to Grants for Individuals in Need provides information on a variety of different charities, welfare funds and benevolent funds which give financial support to individuals. www.dsc.org.uk
DSC also provides subscription websites which enable charities to access sustainable and broad-based sources of revenue:

• www.governmentfunding.org.uk  - a free online directory of funding from five major government departments

Funder Finder


FunderFinder is a small UK charity that makes computer software that helps voluntary organisations and individuals look for money from charitable trusts - mainly for grant-seekers based in the UK.
Some of the things they produce are free and many people use the software they sell through a library or resource agency. www.funderfinder.org.uk


Funding Central


A free smart website for all third sector organisations with access to over 4,000 grants, contracts and loans, plus a wealth of tools and resources supporting organisations to develop sustainable income strategies appropriate to their needs. http://www.fundingcentral.org.uk/


National Charities Information Bureau (NCIB)


Charities Information Bureau provides help and advice for community groups and voluntary organisations who are seeking funding.  They also publish a subscription based monthly e-bulletin www.cibfuding.org.uk

Identify the latest sources of grants, loans and other finance through new sources of money from charitable trusts and foundations, Central Government and local authorities, the National Lottery, Europe, and companies in the UK.

European Funding


• Directory of European Union Grants gives advice about grants available from the EU www.europeangrants.com

International funders


• The International Development Directory gives details of over 250 organisations based in the UK and working in the developing world. www.dsc.org.uk

Big Lottery Fund

The Big Lottery Fund is the largest distributor of Lottery money. Their money goes to community groups and to projects that improve health, education and the environment. www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/
