Local community organisations that are close to our main offices can apply for grants.
The funds from our employee involvement programme, called Zurich Cares, are raised by employees through regular giving and by fundraising in their local departments through raffles, sponsored activities, cake bakes and dress down days. This is then matched by Zurich Community Trust.
Local budgets are delegated to staff committees to award local grants. Some committees are well established whilst others are new and developing, hence why we have main and smaller grant programmes.
Typically grants are for one year and range from £100-£3,000 depending on the size of the location.

Type of grants we give and for how long
We normally award grants to cover project costs but we will also make contributions towards running costs.
Grants are normally one off and for specific running costs, salaries or purchases.
In addition to this local grant programme, we have long term partnerships with national partners which are chosen by our employees. > More
How long will the process take and how would the grant be paid
This will vary for office location depending on how established the local grant committee is and the budget they have to commit each year. Please check this when you contact the local Programme Manager in your area.
Each application will be acknowledged and will contact you if we require further information or wish to visit the project - as is often the case for Gloucestershire and Swindon grants. When a decision has been made we will contact you to let you know and if any conditions will need to be met before the grant is paid.

Do you need volunteers?
We also run a number of programmes to enable Zurich employees to share their time and skills in the community around our main office locations.
All can bring tremendous benefits to the voluntary groups and the people they work with. We may be able to help you if volunteers are needed to help with any of the things listed below:
- Annual Challenge – practical one-off Challenges that can be undertaken by up to a team of ten in one day. For example, decorating, DIY, day trips or gardening.
- SkillShare – short –term projects taking typically up to 10 hours to complete. Our employees are able to share their business skills with you in areas such as marketing, finance, HR and business planning.
- Trustees – we encourage and support our employees to take up these roles within voluntary organisations. We also encourage employees to take up positions as school governors in special needs schools or schools in disadvantaged areas.
Please contact Zurich Community Trust’s UK Volunteering Manager, Tony Martin 01793 505766 or email tony.martin@zct.org.uk to see if this may work for you.
