Our grant giving policy has two main strands:
- Transformation programmes - national programmes selected to target substantial resources to areas of social need that are often overlooked and where we can have the biggest impact.
- Staff and financial adviser involvement – developing partnerships and making local grants across the UK. In 2010, we awarded £1,039 million to UK and overseas charities.

We research our own programmes, identifying potential partners and areas of work for a medium-term commitment, typically five years.
Many grant giving decisions are also made by our employees and members of the Openwork Foundation.
Both groups raise substantial amounts of money for good causes each year.
We encourage our people to decide where the money they raise should go by entering into partnerships and through local charity committees.
