Calvert Trust

Person enjoying climbing in their wheel chair Offers adventure-style outdoor courses for disabled people. These activities have water, mountainside and horseback themes, and are set in accessible rural environments in Keswick, Kielder and Exmoor. We've awarded £395,000 to fund bursaries to help those physically disabled people who would benefit from this activity but struggle to meet the financial demands for them to go.

Zurich employees have built an accessible website for the Trust. Staff have also acted as 'buddies' during daytime activities on holidays in Keswick and the Pyrenees.

Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends’ welfare and teenage pregnancy.

Zurich has been a long standing partner of ChildLine and has awarded over £200,000 in the past ten years. This has funded the recruitment of counsellors and enabled us to answer thousands of calls to the helpline.
