At Zurich we believe it's important to be good corporate citizens and our approach is to enable our people to be involved with local communities through Zurich Community Trust's programmes.
We encourage our people to devote their time, share their business skills and fundraise for charity too. It also gives them opportunities for personal development.
Who we support
All our programmes support people who face poverty, disadvantage, physical or mental distress and focuses on helping people, achieve an independent future
There are two elements to involving our people:
Zurich Cares
Zurich Cares is the name for Zurich's employee programme, covering a wide range of community projects designed to help disadvantaged people achieve an independent future for themselves.
Zurich's 7,500 employees raise over £500,000 each year, donate 20,000 hours of volunteering including 188 annual team challenge activities involving over 2,000 staff.
It is the staff, through Zurich Cares charity committees, who decide which voluntary organisations they want to work in partnership with and how the money is to be spent locally.
Local, national and overseas charities are supported. In 2007, £750,000 was donated which helped over 64,000 disadvantaged people.
