 Impact

In 2006 we:

  • Gave grants worth £75,000 to five partners
  • Sent two staff members - including our first non-UK staff member from Switzerland
  • Supported two Indian Consultants to be our 'eyes and ears' on the ground to work with assignees
  • Enabled 46 'virtual' staff volunteers to exchange emails with service users in India

 

What was achieved in 2006?

 

As part of our membership of the London Benchmarking Group (LBG), we gather information from our partners to demonstrate the impact we are having.

 

Our partner's latest achievements are detailed below, and Zurich Community Trust is proud to be associated with these outcomes and have played our own part to fulfil them.

 

ADD India

  • Direct Intervention Projects (DIPs) support 2752 people with disability across 360 villages
  • 300 people have accessed loans through the DIP federations
  • 840 Sanghas (Self Help Groups) have been formed via 54 supported partners
  • 240 families affected by mental health issues in Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been supported in livelihood activities
  • 2550 people with mental health issues have been identified and supported for inclusion in society
  • 113 partner staff across the 4 states have been trained as disability workers

APD

  • Developed capacity of 203 self help groups, including 1,680 people with disability
  • 3081 people helped with therapeutic interventions
  • Provided 2111 assistive devices
  • Provided access to education to 990 children with disability
  • 422 people with disability trained and 462 gained access to employment

Mobility India

  • 47 students trained in Prosthetics and Orthotics (30) and Rehabilitation Therapy (17)
  • 21 CBR Workers and a further 23 CBR Managers trained
  • 28 former students offered follow-up support
  • 4139 home visits by Therapy Assistants
  • 2895 devices provided for 1702 people with disability
  • 537 families supported through CBR programme
  • 177 children with disabilities enrolled in schools with a further 509 undertaking coaching and computer classes
  • 303 SHG members save regularly to help provide Income Generation options
  • 476 people reached through partner support

SPASTN

  • 2580 newborns screened for development delay with 1027 identified for early intervention
  • 715 mobility appliances delivered through the programmes
  • 2805 people reached through CBR awareness programme
  • 2134 people trained in a variety of disability issues
  • 2391 parents trained through the National Government’s Education for All (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan – SSA) programme
  • 40 Able Art trainees placed in employment

The Banyan

  • 377 homeless women receiving care and treatment at the Banyan’s residential facility.
  • 360 homeless persons receiving care and treatment at IMH as a part of The Banyan – Gov. of Tamil Nadu Helpline initiative.
  • 230 persons receiving treatment as a part of Banyan’s Out Patient services.
  • 54 persons reintegrated into their homes/communities last year.
  • Community Health Centre established providing basic health and psychiatric services covering a population of 50,000 in Kancheepuram district.
  • 5 partners providing psychiatric and rehabilitation services in different locations across the country
