Tim gained degrees in Geophysics (Southampton University), Petroleum Engineering (Imperial College) and an MBA from Cranfield Management School. He obtained a professional qualification in accounting from the London Stock Exchange.

Tim’s career has been spent in strategic management in a variety of industries. Following two years with an international oil services firm, he spent some time with a London stockbroker in energy research.

Tim then moved on to a role with Consolidated Gold Fields, a global mining, construction and energy conglomerate, spending 5 years in investment, acquisitions analysis, strategy development and strategy implementation. Latterly he was seconded to an oil exploration new venture in a commercial role.

Tim then moved to what became a significant part of the FKI Group, a major UK engineering company. He spent 8 years there, initially in corporate planning at the centre acting as an internal consultant on projects in investment appraisal, strategic plan development, acquisitions and disposals. Then as part of strategy implementation Tim moved into a line role as MD of the UK distributor business where he spent 3 years.

Immediately prior to joining Zurich, Tim spent some time as an independent strategy consultant as well as holding a Board position for two years at A&P, a venture capital-backed marine services business, where he had responsibility for sales, marketing and commercial matters as well as strategy development.

Since joining Zurich Strategic Risk, Tim has been involved in a variety of strategic risk assessment assignments in the financial services, pharmaceutical and transport sectors.
